Clearent Adds New Sales Executives With Over Five Decades of Payments Experience

Clayton, MO—March 5, 2009—Clearent announced the appointments of three payments industry veterans—Rob Wiley, William Berry and Barbara Bastik. They join a growing team of experienced professionals who share a vision of bringing a wholly new dynamic to the industry. Clearent is changing the way the merchant services industry does business with its proprietary acquiring platform that delivers unparalleled access to key business intelligence to help make their partners’ portfolios more profitable. Clearent couples this superior technology with equally impressive—and trendsetting—partner support.

Longtime payments and merchant executive Rob Wiley has joined Clearent as VP, Financial Institution Development, charged with leading Clearent’s financial institution partner sales in the southeastern U.S. Wiley comes to Clearent from NPC, where he served as Vice President, Financial Institutions Relations. There he had responsibility for all sales and marketing efforts for acquiring financial institution clients. Previously he had served as VP of Financial Institution Relations at Bank of America/NPC. Wiley’s tenure of over 15 years in the merchant services industry also includes sales, sales management and client responsibilities for Financial Alliance in Louisville, Kentucky.

Merchant services veteran William Berry has joined Clearent as VP, Financial Institution Development to lead financial institution partner sales in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic states. Berry also comes to Clearent from NPC. There he served as AVP of the Financial Institutions Program where he managed new business development and strategic planning. Prior to joining NPC, Berry was VP of Provident One Payment Systems where he managed a sales team that offered both ATM and merchant services to channel partners. Berry also brings 15 years of experience in payments and merchant services to Clearent and their clients.

Barbara Bastik, VP, Client Development, has joined Clearent to lead account management for all U.S. regions. Bastik signs on with Clearent with over 25 years of experience in the acquiring industry. With First Data Corporation, she was responsible for designing and executing both national and regional merchant roll-outs and promotions for payment processing, as well as developing branding standards and resources to support the continued growth of PIN debit. Prior to FDC, Bastik had merchant and processor level responsibilities at Concord EFS/STAR, Key Bank and Discover—working directly with processors and merchants nationwide.

“The order of Clearent’s three tenets, Better People, Better Process and Better Technology, is not random,” says Jim Messina, Clearent’s SVP of Sales. “At Clearent, our most important asset is our people. With the caliber of each of these individuals, Clearent’s ability to bring even stronger leadership, depth of knowledge and customer service excellence has been multiplied exponentially.”
